About Flint Battle of the Bands

The Flint Battle of the Bands highlights the best musicians and dancers in the Flint/Genesee County community. All bands benefit from financial support from local and national businesses with a donation split among each participating team. Local Flint/Genesee County high school bands and dance groups compete in a friendly battle of skill, showmanship and overall performance. Independent dance teams, fraternities and celebrities are invited to participate in support. Participating bands, dance teams, fraternities and sororities may receive prizes and/or donation splits.

Advisory Council

The Flint Battle of the Bands Advisory Council is a collaborative body composed of community activists from Flint and Genesee County, school band directors, school board members, and school staff. Its primary purpose is to guide and oversee the development of the annual Flint Battle of the Bands competition, ensuring it serves as a positive and enriching experience for both participants and the broader community.

Purpose

The Advisory Council's mission is to promote musical excellence, foster community engagement, and provide opportunities for local students and musicians to showcase their talents. The Council plays a critical role in shaping the event, helping to establish the overall philosophy, standards, and competition policies that align with the educational and cultural goals of the community.
